Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami,
Florida on November 30, 1977. American electro house music producer D.J., and
record producer Steve Aoki is his nickname. Music executive. He's the 3rd son
of Chizuru Kobayashi & Rocky Aoki. His father was a wrestler who also
founded the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has two older siblings: sister
Kana who is commonly called Grace as her middle name Grace, and brother Kevin
(owner of Doraku Sushi). His half-sister's model and actress Devon Aoki. He was
born in Newport Beach, California & graduated from Newport Harbor High
School in 1995. He was on the team for badminton on the varsity. He attended UC
Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd B.A. He graduated with two degrees in
sociology, and another in feminist studies. He was a college student who made
records on his own and also held underground shows in his Biko space at Santa
Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue in
the time that the apartment was named The Pickle Patch. He was also active in
student protests at UCSB. He created a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League
Chapter on campus. In his early 20s, Dim Mak had established his own record
company, that he named Dim Mak after his childhood hero Bruce Lee. He released
I'm In the House in March 2010 as a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq The
alter-ego of will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas. It hit the No. 29 in the U.K.
Singles Chart in its first week of release. The song later made it onto the
U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, peaking within the top 5 on
both charts. The song was also featured on the MTV show Jersey Shore as well as
in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man.
Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview with HitQuarters, that
he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked with Aoki on an album. In 2012,
Pollstar designated him as the highest-grossing dance artist in North America
from tours. He has worked with artists such as Afrojack and Linkin Park,
Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis
Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He is known for his
remixes with artists like Kid Cudi.
